1930's Cirrus Powered Lakes

This picture was taken in 1968 at the Reno Air Races.  It is the beautiful Clyde Parsons Ranger Powered Lakes.  Clyde also had a Knight Twister.
This GLST he flew in airshows on the west coast.  Thanks to Ron Olson for the picture . Here is a link to Ron's webpage.  http://wwww.ronsarchive/reno68n/pages/6809neg1013.htm
When the Lakes was put back into production in 1974, this is one of the paint schemes that you could get.
Another one was the same design but with red in place of the blue.  I think it is a neat design on the Lakes.

This is Ted and Beverly Beckwith's 1st generation Great Lakes that they restored and went on the 2003 National Air Tour. Ted and Beverly are from Tenn.  The engine is a Warner radial. Randy Henson looks to be having the  most fun.  He is flying the Great Lakes!  Randy is from Texas and loves his 1976 2T-1A. Shawn Tucker was nice enough to join the picture.
N number:  N305GL  built by Don Wilcox was owned and flown by Charley Humphey. We understand Charlie has sold it.  Engine is a 175 hp Ranger.  What a great airplane!  Charley lives in AZ and is soon to move to TX. He has started a great resource for Lakes builders, owners and fliers.  Click here to find out about it. This homebuilt Lakes is owned by Mike Danielle   Mike tells me it was built by Jack Kahle of Aurora OR. in 1996.  He says the Ranger is so smooth and makes a neat sound (like a radial).  It wheel lands real easily and aways draws a crowd.  Mike just put a rebuilt engine in it.   Another beauty! More pictures on photo page 4.
This factory Lakes just got a new cover. The planes name is Nanna and he is owned by Ann Hopkins and she has wrote a wonderful book on the her barnstorming in this plane.  Check it out it is a good read! This is Archie Lennons Lakes from Zaneville Ohio. It is a 1930 2T that Arch rebuilt and installed a 200 hp fuel injected Lycoming. Arch has a great smoke system on it too! This plane is now in a recover- 2009
